JPIP is one of the few institutes in India devoted to research in Psychology. The institute is recognized by Savitribai Phule Pune University as Research and Ph. D. centre in 1980. More than 24 students have completed their doctorate studies from the centre.
With the growing need of time, JPIP started the 'P. G. Diploma in School Psychology' in 1993. The course is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. It aims at developing trained personnel in the field of School Psychology. Over 400 students from 19 batches have passed out from the course. They are contributing to the field in the capacity of Counsellors, School Psychologists and Consultants. As per the demand for training in basic child psychology, another program was designed for non-psychology professionals, who wish to apply psychology to their respective professions: 'Child and Adolescent Psychology - Enhancing Potentials' (CAPEP).
R.E.B.T. Training program ‘Quest for Happiness’(आनंदाची शोधयात्रा), which is designed on the basis of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy principles is conducted twice a year.
Education of the gifted is one of the core research areas of the Institute. With this sound research backup, we have started separate training programs for teachers, counsellors and parents in Gifted Education. Pune University affiliated one year full time P.G.
